Back A former student who is autistic who graduated recently with their degree in Business shares their view on accessing services and how it helped them in transitioning from school to university.
‘I can safely say that without the help and dedication of ASC and its staff in my first semester at Waterford I would not have gotten through college. I struggled to adapt to the transition from secondary school to college and, as a result I struggled with the learning material, assignments and the exams I needed to pass. But once I reached out to Pat and the tutors, I was able to get the support I needed. Whether proofing reading assignments or giving me the skills needed in some of my subjects – I would not have come out with the degree I have now if it wasn’t for them. Also, on a personal level the kindness and patience they showed me when I needed it is something I will be forever grateful for’.
