The Luke Wadding library at SETU offers more than just books for our neurodivergent students. It can offer a safe space to study, relax, check in with our ASC centre and relax in our sensory pod chairs.
Background
The library at SETU Waterford has lots to offer our students. Dedicated quiet study spaces, bookable seminar rooms and quiet pods along with sensory pod chairs to help students relax in between lectures and study times. Our ASC centre is located at the end of the building downstairs in a private space for our registered students to avail of. There you will find our tutors and our ASD worker Monday to Fri from 8.30am each morning.
All the research and reference material is available online and the library catalogue system can locate any book you need down to the shelf it is located on- all you can access by yourself without having to ask anyone. Here are some useful links.
Using The Library – SETU Libraries
There is a library laptop loan scheme available to all students. The lending period is 6 hours.
From time to time there are interesting exhibitions/presentations in our Library Learning Hub on the 3rd floor that is specially designed for our students with disabilities and students with ADHD (diagnosed/undiagnosed) can avail of free self development courses each term with the UNIMAAP programme run in conjunction with our counselling team. We have QR codes all around campus for you to sign up and also in this toolkit (FAQ section).
How could this affect me?
Our libraries also offer a wide range of tutorials, covering topics such as referencing, subject-specific searches, and effective research strategies. It is designed to enhance your academic skills and help you make the most of the library’s resources. We have 2 pod chairs with USB ports to help students relax when they need to. We also have bookable enclosed pod spaces by the circulation desk which can be reserved-just ask any member of the library team for help.
