What did I like about the ASC centre?

· The staff were approachable, patient, and easy to talk to.

· The quieter atmosphere helped with concentration and stress.

· The availability of accommodations and resources made studying easier.

· staff listened and treated students respectfully and individually.

How do I feel it helps?

I feel it helps because it provides a calm and supportive environment where students can take a break, get support, and feel understood. It makes college less stressful and helps students manage both their wellbeing and academic work.

What did I find hard when I started:

· Not knowing anyone

· Getting lost around campus, city, even with buses

Biggest issue:

The biggest issues were a lack of understanding around disability-related breaks during lectures, not receiving notes in advance. These things made college more stressful and exhausting than it needed to be.

How was issue resolved:

The issues were helped through accommodations, communication with lecturers, access to online notes, and support from the ASC centre, which provided understanding and a quieter space when needed.

What helped the most:

· Staff at the ASC centre who provided a friendly ear to listen or talk to

· Having understanding and supportive accommodations

What could the university do better:

The university could do better by improving understanding of disabilities among lecturers, and making lecture materials available online in advance more consistently.
