Here a current Business student gives their advice to incoming students who are autistic.
‘My experience as a member of the SETU community in Waterford has been unforgettable. All faculty members I have interacted with have been courteous, considerate, understanding, and dedicated to assisting students in every possible manner. They are exceptionally accommodating, particularly in the Academic Skills Centre (ASC).
The facility is designated for assisting students with disabilities and learning challenges. They are academic tutors who will assist you with any challenges you may have. They have significantly and personally supported me during my tenure at this university. Without their support, I would have failed long ago. This is directed towards the lecturers and other faculty members.
This university is highly accommodating for neurodivergent individuals and those with disabilities. The lecturers are indeed accessible and exceptionally informed; do not hesitate to engage with them. They possess a wealth of information; if they lack it, they will refer you to someone who may have it. The university is a meticulously organised institution. Numerous departments and specialised areas within the institution may appear intimidating to prospective students; nevertheless, be assured that ample support will be readily available.
The faculty is exceptional; they are supportive individuals who will assist you in your times of need if you remain authentic. You will not ascertain till you enquire. I hope your whole experience will be as positive as mine has been here’.
